Assistant Professor - Tenure Track

Music Theory, Music Industry (Music Technology/Audio Recording)

Academic Year 2010-11

 

Western Connecticut State University is pleased to announce that, contingent upon available funding, applications for a new tenure-track position are currently being accepted. The successful candidate will teach courses in Music Theory, Sight-Singing/Ear Training and Music Industry (Music Technology/Audio Recording); coordinate audio recording within the department, teach additional courses in the Department of Music according to candidate’s expertise; advise students; and maintain a professional career, appropriate to the discipline(s)


Qualifications: Doctorate or ABD in Music Theory required. Minimum of two years teaching experience in the areas of Music Theory and/or Music Industry at the college level is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate professional level experience and expertise in the area of music technology and audio recording. As WestConn is a dynamic, diverse workplace, the proven ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures is highly valued, and excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

WestConn, a Comprehensive II institution of 6000 students located in the rolling hills of southwestern Connecticut, 60 miles north of New York City, offers degrees at the Bachelor and Master’s level, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. The Department of Music (www.wcsu.edu/music) is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music with twelve full-time and thirty part-time faculty supporting 240 majors in five degree programs: BA in Music, BS in Music Education, BM in Performance, BM in Jazz Studies, and a MS in Music Education.  A new Visual and Performing Arts Instructional Center, located on the Westside Campus, is currently in the schematic design phase and is slated for completion in 2013.
