Nutrition Educator

The Center for Public Health and Health Policy is seeking applicants for a full-time, grant-funded Program Assistant II position.  Under the direction of the Healthy Communities Program director and designated staff, the Program Assistant will provide program and related administrative support for nutrition and physical activity promotion and effective food use to clients with limited resources.  The incumbent will work as part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Connections team to deliver community programming to limited resource caretakers and their children in several community settings.  In addition, the Program Assistant will train, supervise, and evaluate undergraduate and graduate students providing coordinated education.  The incumbent will assist with program evaluation and be responsible for completing required reports and perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:  Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to community nutrition programming and at least three years experience delivering creative approaches to nutrition education.  In addition, the candidates must have strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds; organizational ability that will allow for effective team participation and maintenance of records; and a Bachelor's degree in nutrition, public health, health education, or a closely related field.  Good writing and communication skills and ability to provide programming at a variety of sites throughout Connecticut is also required.

Preferred Qualifications:  registration as a dietitian with the American Dietetic Association and fluency in English/Spanish are highly desirable.

Salary:  Low to high 40’s depending on experience and qualifications with a full benefits package.

This is a full time, end-date position renewable twice a year (March 31 and September 30), depending on the availability and maintenance of funding.
