Program Aide (UCP I) (50%) Cooperative Extension System New Haven County Extension Center
The University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System is seeking a half-time (50%) Program Aide for the 4-H Summer and Year Round Nutrition Education Program. The successful candidate will provide individual and group support for participants to enhance learning and provide appropriate experiences to accomplish goals; assist in development of newsletters and outreach materials; assist with completing, processing and maintaining program documentation, including assembling data and preparing routine reports; assist with digital photography programs; and collaborate with existing and potential agencies in New Haven and surrounding areas, such as the Board of Education, Department of Parks and Recreation and youth serving agencies.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of extension and nutritional educators and staff to orchestrate the 4-H Summer and Year Round Nutrition Education Program; assist with conducting educational experiences at camp programs in New Haven as well as collect and coordinate data/reports. The candidate will also assist with training of participants and related summer staff; and perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: An earned Bachelor’s degree in nutrition and youth programming management or equivalent combination of education and related experience; strong skills in organization, leadership, computer use, written and verbal communications and interpersonal relations; and familiarity with the New Haven community and agencies. The successful candidate must have ability to work effectively with minimum supervision, both within a team setting and independently; must also be available to work evening and weekend hours as required and be willing and able to travel.
Preferred Qualifications: include familiarity with software such as Excel, publisher and graphic design software; ability to use a digital camera and edit photos and video; experience with newsletter or calendar writing or development; and Bilingual English/Spanish is also preferred.
Salary and Benefits: $34,113 annual full-time salary prorated accordingly. This is an end-date position. Reappointment is annual and contingent upon availability of funds.
