The University of Connecticut, University Information Technology Services (UITS) is currently seeking an experienced executive with excellent leadership skills and vision to join the senior management team in the capacity of Director of Enterprise Application Services. The Director of Enterprise Application Services is a member of the senior leadership team for UITS. The Director is responsible for creating, developing and implementing strategies and policies related to:
- University-wide Application Development and Production Support
- Web Development and Integration Technologies Support
- Data Management Services
- Application Security, Change Management and Scheduling
The Director interacts and coordinates with University executive administration, campus and department technology directors, computing advisory groups, University and external technology specialists, and individual members of the University and Internet communities. The Director serves as an advisor to the CIO and other university technology administrators on enterprise application management, web development and integrative technologies, data services and appropriate operation thereof. In addition, the Director coordinates and participates in high-level technology assessment, program planning and reporting for the University of Connecticut. The Director maintains budget and staffing levels appropriate for activities with responsibility for staff planning, hiring, and assessment and coordination of resources and activities of key UITS application systems including: Student Administration; Human Capital Management; Financial Services; other highly customized and integrated business applications; and Data Management Services. In addition, the Director attends conferences and training, and interacts with external peers as required to maintain knowledge of current issues and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or other relevant education and training from an accredited college or university; minimum of five years of management level experience; experience developing and/or supporting business application systems; proven track record in strategic planning and implementation of information technology plans consistent with administrative, financial, research and instructional requirements; experience with major computing centers, demonstrated ability to act decisively and solve problems through creative and strategic thinking; ability to identify key issues in complex situations, evaluate options and initiate strategies for resolution; ability to translate long-term strategies into day-to-day operations with demonstrated experience in aligning resources with goals; proven leader with strong management and communication skills who is comfortable and effective with diverse university audiences; ability to build effective operational teams that emphasize teamwork, partnership and collaboration; strong awareness of current trends in application systems design, and the application of creative solutions related to business requirements; and excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain constructive and professional relationships with a wide variety of individuals are required.
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of five (5) years of higher education experience in a research intensive university and experience with PeopleSoft Student Administration, Financial or Human Resources Business Application Systems.
